Fulbright Application Process at Baylor and Next Steps
The Baylor Fulbright Application Process
The Baylor application process for undergraduate students begins in the spring of their junior year and they submit their applications in the fall of their senior year, though we will gladly work you whenever you express your interest in the Fulbright. We begin working with graduate students at any point in their program and alumni at any point in their career. Like with our undergraduate applicants, we start the application process for graduate students and alumni in the spring and will happily work with you to begin the application process whenever you fill out the above form. We have a team of experts, led by Baylor's Fulbright Program Advisors (FPAs) Dr. Andy Hogue, Dr. Daniel Benyousky, and Dr. Jennifer Good, who are here to guide you through this process, from introductory information all the way to final submission of an application.
Learn more about the Fulbright awards
1. Begin by watching these videos from the Fulbright website. The first video offers a general overview of the Fulbright US Student Program, the second considers the Study/Research award, and fourth talks about the English Teaching Assistant award (you can skip the third video for now). All three short videos offer helpful information about the Fulbright.
2. You will also want to explore the Fulbright site. It has a wealth of information about the awards. The dropdown menus at the top of the page offer important information about eligibility requirements, award benefits, countries you can apply to, the types of awards you can apply for, and the application components. You may also want to look at the statistics link at the bottom of the page, which lists the statistics from the last three award cycles.
Next Steps in the Baylor Fulbright Application Process
If you plan to apply during the upcoming award cycle, which will end with you submitting your application in September 2023, please complete the following steps. See below for info session and workshop details.
1. Attend one of our Fulbright info sessions.
2. Complete the form declaring your intent to apply for a Fulbright award through Baylor through this link. Also, please open a Fulbright application through the portal on the Fulbright website. When you open your application, make sure you list Baylor as your university so that we can see your application on our end in the online portal.
3. Attend one of the English Teaching Assistant or Study/Research award sessions according to which award you think you might apply for.
4. Attend one Fulbright essay session for the award you are applying for.
5. Complete the Fulbright Freewriting document and attend a freewriting meeting for feedback on your document. This will serve as a way to launch your essay writing process. Dr. Benyousky will send this document to everyone who has declared they are applying in this coming cycle in April. He will also send out a Google Doc to sign up for a freewriting meeting.
