For Faculty Mentors
Welcome to Undergraduate Research in the Office of Engaged Learning!
Our Mission
We house a broad variety of undergraduate research programs that serve faculty and students of all disciplines. Undergraduate research programs in the OEL include both academic programs and grants and awards.
We are housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, but supported through the Office of the President and the Office of the Provost and here to serve undergraduate students from all majors.
Our mission is to facilitate dynamic opportunities for undergraduates in all disciplines to pursue faculty-guided research, equipping them to make new discoveries while strengthening critical, analytical, and writing abilities.
Goals and Objectives
- Our main goal is to serve as a central hub to gather and distribute resources and information to enhance undergraduate research opportunities across disciplines.
- Our objectives include:
- providing support for students and faculty mentors through the development and administration of research and travel grants.
- seeking funding and grants to develop or support research programs for undergraduate students.
- working with others to guide students to maximize their education by learning beyond the classroom through internships and research experiences.
- helping students recognize their potential to apply their expertise to improve the world for their neighbors, friends, families, communities, and the world at large.
- In addition, we sponsor events to showcase and celebrate student and faculty accomplishments and discoveries.
