For Faculty Mentors
Welcome to Undergraduate Research in the Office of Engaged Learning (OEL)! We house a broad variety of undergraduate research programs that serve faculty and students of all disciplines. Undergraduate research programs in the OEL include both academic programs and grants and awards. We are housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, but supported through the Office of the President and the Office of the Provost and here for all!
Our objectives include providing support for faculty mentors through the development and administration of research and travel grants, internships, and research programs for undergraduate students. In addition, we want to recognize faculty and students by providing awards for mentoring and presentations. Below are the major events that are sponsored by this office.
- Science Research Fellows
- B-TRUE
- the Scholars Week symposium
- the Summer Research Symposium
- Baylor Undergraduate Researchers in Science Technology (BURST)
- annual Faculty Mentoring Awards
- Recognition of Excellence in Undergraduate Research, and
- Graduate Student Recognition of Excellence in Mentoring Undergraduate Research
Departmental and Faculty Mentor Directory
Mentoring undergraduate researchers is a rewarding experience for both students and faculty, but often it is challenging for students to find mentors and for faculty to find students interested in their research areas. Students are interested in learning what 'research' looks like in their discipline and we want to make this information available through this office. In an effort to help students and faculty connect, we are developing a Baylor Engaged Portal that will be populated with research and other forms of engaged learning opportunities for students. Please send us opportunities that you would like to offer our students and we will add them to the directory on this page and/or link them to the Baylor Engaged Portal. The Directory is organized into 5 main areas and populated with information from departments and mentors as we receive it.
- Business and Education
- Fine Arts, Music and Theatre
- Health Sciences and Nursing
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
Please help us build this directory by sharing any promotional information on internships, scholarships, programs, course-based research, or contacts in your department. Please include information about the type of projects students participate in under your guidance. You may send this information to Tamarah_Adair@baylor.edu

The Office of Engaged Learning is also spotlighting student success. Would you like to share your student's success? Please send us your student(s) for our spotlight.
Thank you for your support of undergraduate education and mentoring at Baylor! Your willingness to work with our students on a research project is a clear indication of a commitment to teaching and service that is exemplary. Please let us know how we can help.
