ForagerOne at Baylor
Baylor has implemented ForagerOne, a first-of-its-kind research matching software platform, to facilitate connections between research faculty and aspiring undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral researchers.
For Students
Get started with ForagerOne by taking these steps:
1. Create your profile.
At the link above, select Baylor from the drop-down menu and log in via your BearID. Then complete the following sections of your profile to finish creating it:
- About — Write a brief overview of yourself (150-250 words, 3-5 short paragraphs), including your academic interests, relevant experiences, career or academic goals, and reasons for wanting to do research.
- Supplemental Files — Upload a PDF of your resume, transcript, and/or any recommendation letters; you can make these private or publicly available to anyone at Baylor using ForagerOne.
- Areas of Interest — List areas of research you are interested in.
- Experience — Add any work, internship, or other experiences you have had, describing the skills you developed or utilized and your accomplishments.
- Presentations/Competitions/Performances — Add these involvements, including how you placed if appropriate.
- Publications — Include any publications you have authored or co-authored.
- Awards — Highlight awards you have received, such as scholarships, Dean's list, service awards, leadership awards, etc.
2. Explore research opportunities and find faculty of interest.
Search for faculty and student profiles to find people of interest and bookmark any projects of interest. As more faculty and students onboard to ForagerOne, you'll start seeing more projects as well as more faculty members who are accepting students.
3. Connect with a faculty member.
If you find a faculty member or project of interest, you can apply to work with them by submitting an interest statement.

For Faculty
Get started with ForagerOne with these steps:
1. Claim your profile.
At the link above, select Baylor from the drop-down menu and log in via your BearID. The information on your profile has been auto-populated from the Baylor website; update any information that looks incorrect or outdated.
2. Add research projects to your profile.
If you have specific projects for which you would like to recruit students, post them to Projects in your dashboard. To post a new project, select “Add a New Project” and complete the fields.
3. Select whether you are accepting students for your research.
If you are looking to engage students in your work, make sure they know that you are actively recruiting by selecting the toggle under Profile > Accepting Students. Selecting this toggle will indicate on your profile as well as on the Search > Faculty page that you are open to accepting students. Please note that you can select this toggle whether or not you have an active project added to your profile, but once you have posted an active project and noted you are accepting students, the toggle cannot be de-selected unless you archive the project.
4. Select whether you are seeking collaborators.
To indicate to other faculty or staff that you are looking for someone to join them on a collaborative project, you can select the toggle under Profile > Actively Seeking Collaborators. You must have at least one posted project in order to enable this option.

ForagerOne Frequently Asked Questions
ForagerOne is a first-of-its-kind platform designed specifically to match research faculty with aspiring student researchers at higher education institutions, and it has been adopted at Johns Hopkins University, Emory University, University of Kentucky, Cornell University, and Brandeis University, among many others. The Office of the Provost and the Office of Engaged Learning have partnered to bring ForagerOne to Baylor to enhance the university's research enterprise by systematizing and simplifying the faculty and student matching process and enabling greater collaboration across the university.
We recommend adding as much relevant and compelling information to each of the sections of your profile as possible. For more details on what to include in each section, read this support article from ForagerOne.
