BSRW Information for Students and Mentors
Dear Baylor Researchers (and mentors):
Congratulations on your upcoming Baylor Student Research Week (BSRW) presentation! If you are part of a presentation team, please share this information with your entire team.
This is such a wonderful time to highlight and celebrate the creativity and discoveries resulting from student research and scholarly achievements.
- Presentations will take place on Tuesday-Thursday April 7th-9th in Cashion 506. Invite your friends and family!
- There will be an Awards Luncheon on Friday April 10th. All presentation winners and their mentors will be invited by e-mail on Thursday evening.
Please read this message carefully and see the schedule of presentations on the Baylor Student Research Week web page. You will need to make necessary preparations and arrangements. The Abstracts will be published soon, so check back to the same web page.
- For all Students Presenting:
- If your presentation is scheduled during your regular class hours, speak to your instructor about arranging time to complete your assignments early and/or ask your mentor to provide a note. This type of engaged learning that takes place outside of the classroom is supported by our faculty and in most cases, you will be able to work something out.
- If there are very special circumstances regarding schedule conflict, we will do our best to assist you. Please e-mail Lizzy_Kim1@baylor.edu and Tamarah_Adair@baylor.edu for assistance.
- If you are no longer planning to participate in BSRW, please reply and let us know.
- Invite your classmates, friends, and family. Share the link, send messages, and post your research topic and presentation schedule where others will see it. We want to get the word out!
- Dress is business casual.
- Podium/3MT Presentations
- Find your Session Time on the online schedule.å
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to check-in with the BSRW Volunteers.
- Presentations will go in order of the schedule.
- Each presenter should upload your presentation in PowerPoint to the appropriate BOX FOLDER no later than noon on Monday April 6. Your file should be named Last Name_First Name. Your presentation will be ready to go when you arrive.
- Breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and “giveaways” will be available throughout the day!
- We will have a moderator and judges for each session.
- Poster Presentation
- Please check the schedule for your assigned poster session on the BSRW web page.
- Your posters should not be larger than 4’ x 3’ to fit on the green easels/partitions shown in the photo on the BSRW web page.
- Posters need to be hung by 9:00 AM on the day of your session and remain up until 5:00PM.
- You are only required to stand by your poster during your scheduled session when the judges will be reviewing and speaking with all participants.
- Volunteers will be available if you need assistance in hanging your posters. Please use the clamps that are available.
- Please read the “Poster Tips and Guidelines” on the Web Page. Reviewing the judging rubric is also a good way to learn about best practices. Aim for easy to understand and aesthetically pleasing posters.
- All students/mentors are responsible for printing their own posters. This cost is about $50 at the Copy Center. Plan ahead because it may take a few days to get it printed.
- All poster presentations will take place on the 5th floor of Cashion (Room 506).
- Find your designated poster number on the online schedule and correlate it with the number on the green partitions.
