Launching Application Processes for the Truman, Goldwater, Boren, and Critical Language Scholarships

Baylor launches the fall 2025 application processes for the Truman, Goldwater, Boren, and Critical Language Scholarships.

We are delighted to launch the application processes for several major awards for the fall of 2025. Please read below for further information about each award. You will see that the first step for any of the awards is to complete an interest form to learn more. 

Critical Language Scholarship and the Boren Awards

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) and the Boren Awards are two awards that fund the study of various critical languages. The CLS has both in person and virtual programs that run for 8-10 weeks over the summer. The Boren Awards generally fund 6+ month long in person language study, though there is a summer program from STEM students. Undergraduates and graduate students are eligible for both awards. Truman Scholarship

The Truman Scholarship is a competitive award for current juniors that offers generous funding for public service focused graduate study. Baylor can nominate up to 4 applicants each year (and 1 additional transfer student). The Truman Scholarship focuses on students with ambitions in public service, broadly defined, which includes, as the Truman Foundation notes, scholars from “many fields of study, from agriculture, biology, engineering, technology, medicine, and environmental management, to fields such as economics, education, government, history, international relations, law, political science, public administration, nonprofit management, public health, and public policy.” Please complete this interest form so that we can contact you with more details about our info sessions and application process. 

Goldwater Scholarship

The Goldwater Scholarship is the preeminent STEM research award in the US. It recognizes excellence in STEM research. Winners are awarded $7,500. To be eligible, you must be a US citizen, either a sophomore or a junior, and intend to pursue a career in STEM research. In order to be competitive, you will need to demonstrate your research experience in the application. Baylor can nominate up to 4 applicants each year (and 1 additional transfer student and 1 additional veteran).
