Dr. Robin McDurham

  • Transformation Waco

Dr. Robin McDurham recently retired as superintendent of Transformation Waco (TW), a citywide school turnaround initiative launched to prevent closures and improve student outcomes in Waco ISD. As the architect of Texas’s first SB 1882 transformation zone, she led efforts to revitalize five struggling campuses through bold academic interventions, leadership development, and wrap-around supports for students and families. After returning school operations to the district in 2024, Dr. McDurham negotiated a new role for TW as a Full-Service Community School provider, ensuring continuity of essential services for Waco’s most vulnerable families.

A former Mayor and Waco City Council member, Dr. McDurham has long championed the alignment of city resources with educational needs. Her work on the National League of Cities’ Leadership Council for Youth, Education, and Families shaped national advocacy efforts for full-day pre-kindergarten and expanded learning opportunities. With deep roots in local governance and a passion for policy, she continues to drive systems-level change that strengthens both schools and communities.
