Adrienne Harris
Slavic Languages and Literature
Russian collective memory of the Second World War. Women’s and masculinity studies. In Dr. Harris's own words "In general, my primary work involves Russian collective memory of the Second World War. In my current book project, Battles for Sevastopol: Russian War Films since Maidan,” using the lens of recent cinematic depictions of well-known war narratives, I ask how the conflict in Ukraine has reshaped Russian national identity. Many of these films are revisions of Soviet-era literary texts or remakes of Soviet films. I’ve published on Russian war poetry, memoirs, monuments, hero cults, and gender—and I don’t mean just women’s studies. I am open to working with students on topics that do not concern Russia or the Czech Republic so long as they overlap with one of my other interests or areas of expertise. "
