Advanced Sociological Research
Explore social phenomena beyond introductory concepts, using advanced research methods and integrating cutting-edge theory. Topics are at the discretion of the student, but subject to faculty approval. A final paper and/or presentation is required by the end of term.

Lindsay R. Wilkinson
Sociology
Dr. Wilkinson’s research and teaching interests include medical sociology, social stratification and health, aging and the life course, and quantitative methods. Her current projects include an examination of financial strain and health among older adults during the Great Recession, including the role of resilience, and trajectories of health problems and poverty among young and middle-aged women over three decades. She is also investigating unmet needs among chronic disease patients and their family caregivers.

Kevin Dougherty
Organized religion and religious affiliations
His research explores religious affiliation, religious participation, racial diversity in congregations, congregational growth and decline, and the impact of religion on other realms of social life such as community involvement, politics, and work.
